Gatan Warrendale Factory Expansion

Gatan is currently expanding its factory in Warrendale, PA, taking the total occupied square footage from 23,483 on two floors to 42,700 on one floor. This expansion will streamline all aspects of our production and help minimize delays.

Advances in CL Characterisation - New fitting
and analysis tools for XiCLone
launched at the 44TH Electronic Materials Conference · Santa Barbara, California,
26-28th June.

XiCLone is the advanced spectrum imaging option for cathodoluminescence. New, fast Non Linear Least Squares (NLLS) Gaussian fitting routines provide a quantum leap in CL characterization. Spectral peak shift and peak width maps provide a unique insight into growth quality, stress, doping and alloy effects, and quantum confinement in compound semiconductor materials and device research.

Cryo-SEM Food Microstructure - an insight

Over the last 10 years cryo-stabilization followed by low temperature microscopy has become the standard method for preparing and subsequently imaging low melting point, beam sensitive and hydrated specimens in the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). With advancements in cryo-preparation instrumentation coupled with the improvements in resolution and performance of SEMs, particularly at low kV, optimum high resolution cryo-microscopy is now readily attainable.
