Development and Product Support Engineer, UK

Gatan UK is a technology-leading manufacturer of specialised systems for Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM).Our products are exported to customers worldwide, mainly for research applications.Our factory is based at Abingdon, near Oxford, UK, and includes R&D, production, test and applications laboratory facilities.

We wish to recruit a Development and Product Support Engineer to work within our Product Development Group.

The job includes involvement in all aspects of the development process according to Gatan’s Product Life Cycle model.There are also specific tasks associated with supporting the quality of our TEM and SEM products, providing technical material for others and understanding the interaction and integration of our technology with other systems.

Requirements

• You should have a first degree and preferably a post-graduate qualification in a physical science or engineering subject.
• You should have practical research or R&D experience involving the design, in-depth knowledge or development of scientific instrumentation.
• Preferred skills would be in electronics, software testing and scripting, TEM techniques, vacuum technology and cryogenics.
• You will need to provide technical leadership and should be able to understand and review electronic layouts and mechanical engineering designs.
• Occasional travel to support our customers or service teams ‘on-site’ will be required.
