Project Manager

Gatan is a growing, high-technology company in search of an experienced Project Manager. As a Gatan Project Manager you will lead a group of scientists, engineers and engineering support staff in our Pleasanton, California office. Working from the Project Management Group in the Engineering Dept., your prime responsibilities will include:

. Directing your team to take products from the feasibility stage, through the implementation phase, resulting in a saleable product which you will then transfer to manufacturing;
. Providing technical leadership and project management for your project and team;
. Using both your direct and matrix management skills to coordinate your company wide project team;
. Working with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Service, etc. to assure the total success of your project;
. Defining the resources needed to implement projects, establishing schedules, preparing project cost estimates and identifying and implementing cost savings;
. Bringing your projects in on schedule and in budget.

Candidate description:
. 5+ years of experience in high-tech industry;
. A proven track record in product development including project management and technical management;
. Excellent leadership skills required;
. An employment record of delivering high quality products on time and within schedule required;
. A college degree in science or engineering is essential and an advanced degree is desirable;
. Experience with electron microscopes, optics, cameras, CCDs, instrumentation, beam lines, or related technologies is required;
. Product development experience at $50M-$150M companies specializing in low-volume, highly engineered, complex, configurable, high-tech products is desirable;
. Training or experience in electron microscopy/spectroscopy is desirable;
. Occasional travel both foreign and domestic.
