TEM Products Engineer, Gatan UK

Gatan UK is a technology-leading manufacturer of specialised products for Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM). Our products are exported to customers worldwide, mainly for research applications. Our factory is based at Abingdon in Oxfordshire and includes R&D, production, test and applications laboratory facilities.

We wish to recruit a TEM Products Engineer, with specific focus on TEM holders to work in our expanding development team. The role requires considerable versatility as there are some additional production testing and customer support activities.

The job requires competency with operating TEMs, and a wide variety of skills pertinent to the performance of holders, e.g. precision movements, cryogenics, thermometry. The engineer will be required to follow Gatan’s product life cycle model, and work with our Design Office and skilled Development Technicians to take new concepts through to quality tested products. Sustaining engineering tasks will focus on improving manufacturing efficiency whilst maintaining performance and quality. Meticulous planning, regular design reviews, thorough documentation, and close interaction with collaborating customers will be required.

You should have TEM experience in an engineering capacity. Experience in the following will be beneficial: use or repair of TEM holders, software and scripting skills, working with engineering drawings and project management.
