9th K. H. Kuo Summer School of Electron Microscopy & Crystallography

The 9th K. H. Kuo Summer School of Electron Microscopy & Crystallography is named after the late Professor K. H. Kuo, a prominent electron microscopist who discovered quasicrystal and first introduced EM to China, who also trained a generation of electron microscopists in China, including some of us organizing this symposium/summer school. The symposium is partially sponsored by the Kuo Education Fund, which was established by his over 100 former graduate students as a tribute to Kuo as a great scientist and a loving mentor.

This biannual Cryo-EM meeting series has evolved from a summer school aimed to bring modern Cryo-EM technology to Chinese students into an important international symposium in the field of Cryo-EM in Asia countries. The last biological Cryo-EM meeting was held in Shanghai in July 2014 and chaired by Huilin Li (SUNY Stony Brook, USA), Yifan Cheng (UCSF, USA), Yao Cong (SIBCB, China), and Yongning He (SIBCB, China). More than 200 scientists and students from Asia, America, and Europe attended the meeting. This important event will mainly include invited scientific talk sessions and poster sessions covering the latest findings across many topics in Cryo-EM. A few short oral presentations will be selected from the openly submitted abstracts on the basis of scientific merit and relevance. Social events throughout the symposium provide ample opportunity for informal interactions among the young students and the pioneering scientists.

Gatan is a major sponsor of the 9th Kuo Summer School. Our R&D engineers and sales managers will be available to discuss your Cryo-EM application needs.
