Advanced EELS and EFTEM Training School - France 2017

School fee: 1500€

The Advanced EELS and EFTEM Training School hosted by EDF R&D is an intensive 4-day training school that incorporates lectures, computer laboratories, and microscope practical classes to provide participants with a comprehensive, hands-on training on advanced electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) and energy-filtered transmission electron microscopy (EFTEM) topics.

The practical sessions on the microscope will be given at the Materials Ageing Institute. Two high performance microscopes systems will be used: a Cs corrected, monochromated FEI Titan with a GIF Quantum® ERS imaging filter that includes DualEELS; plus a FEI Osiris with a GIF Quantum ER imaging filter. Both systems utilize STEMPack™ for  high-speed STEM spectrum image acquisition. This course focuses on the advanced practice of EELS based imaging and analysis in the (S)TEM microscope on advanced based EELS techniques.

A good experience with electron microscopy and EELS is highly recommended. By the end of the course, participants can expect to get the most out of their EELS spectrometer system and know how to best optimize the experimental conditions in order to capture the maximum amount of information out of the TEM samples using EELS.
