677 Multiple Specimen FIB Holder

Easy, safe sample transfer from FIB to TEM

The Model 677.FIB is a single tilt specimen holder which accepts interchangeable cartridges called FIBBEMs. Each FIBBEM's clamping mechanism securely holds multiple samples for specimen preparation in the FIB milling machine. Large cutouts in the FIBBEMs allow access of the milling beam and reactive gases to the samples. After milling the FIBBEM is tranfered to the 677.FIB holder for viewing all samples in the TEM. The 677.FIB holder eliminates hazardous steps of fragile sample manipulation during preparation and transfer between the FIB stage and the TEM rod. Just pick up the FIBBEM with forceps, press it into the end of the 677.FIB rod and it's ready for TEM viewing. Each holder is supplied with a stand, one phosphor bronze FIBBEM complete with clamping plates, and a FIBBEM tool.

Load Multiple Samples with One Transfer

Comparing samples is easily done by advancing the FIBBEM cartridge with the manual positioning knob at the end of the holder. A positive click-stop ensures that each specimen is held in the viewing position and the actual specimen being viewed is identified by a number indicator at the end of the holder. Delicate samples need not be individually handled again, and multiple samples are ready for viewing after one insertion of the specimen holder. Model 677.FIB sample holders are available for all side-entry model TEMs and accommodates one FIBBEM. Depending on the microscope type, FIBBEM cartridges hold two, three or five samples. If EDX analysis is required, the standard phosphor bronze FIBBEM can be replaced by beryllium FIBBEMs to reduce x-ray background.

FIBBEMs - Increase Your Productivity by Batch Processing

Batch or semi-automated processing can be easy when multiple FIBBEMs are loaded on the FIB workstation stage. Available in packages of four, the FIBBEM cartridges can be used for fast milling of large batches of samples by placing sample-loaded FIBBEMs on the standard FIB workstation stage. Reloading for TEM examination avoids additional direct handling of grids - just pick up the FIBBEM, place it in the holder and your grids are ready for the TEM. FIBBEMs can also be used for archiving unique specimens for safe, worry-free storage.
