Automated multi-specimen loading for the TEM

A prototype automated multi-specimen (up to 100 grids) loading system has recently been installed at the Laboratory of Cell Biology, National Cancer Institute, NIH, USA. We are collaborating with Dr Sriram Subramaniam and his colleagues to assess the potential of this technology and to work towards using the system for fully automated screening of multiple specimens. Interest in fast, automated TEM specimen throughput has been expressed by many of our customers in biomedical and materials science fields and this prototype is a true milestone for Gatan.
