Model 682.40000 Slope Cutter Tool (SC-Tool)
A Unique Slope Cutting Tool for Exposing Cross Sections
|
 |
|
The Gatan Precision
Etching Coating System (PECS) is a versatile tool offering features for various
TEM and SEM applications depending on the operating conditions and parameters.
Some of these features are ion beam cleaning, smoothing, thinning, selective
etching, sputter coating and slope cutting. Slope cutting alone may not produce
the high quality images required for today’s SEM applications; but when
integrated into the PECS, the unique cutting, etching and coating features
result in samples with a superior level of image clarity and detail.

Model 3D
Tomography-Acquisition Software
|

|
The Gatan
3D tomography-acquisition software is a plug-in to the popular
DigitalMicrograph™ software. This new 3D tomography software works with
Gatan’s complete line of room-temperature and cryo-transfer Tomography
Holders and Gatan Imaging Filters or digital TEM cameras on most TEMs (with
computer controlled sample stages, illumination and imaging systems). The Gatan
Tomography software allows you to acquire a tilt series while correcting for
specimen drift and any mechanical instabilities of the goniometer.

NOTE - Recording Dynamic Experiments in the SEM
|
 |
For many
materials, the dynamic response to changes in variables such as temperature,
hydration or partial pressure of reactive gases are important to understand on
a microscopic scale. In the case of high temperatures, micro-scale changes in
phase or chemical state can be key to understanding macroscale properties.

|
 |
Gatan
continued its tradition of fostering leading-edge research on the limits of
EELS-based analytical TEM and STEM through its sponsorship of and scientific
contributions to the EDGE meeting held 1-5 May 2005 in Grundlsee, Austria. This
year's meeting, organized and run by Prof. Ferdinand Hofer and his team at
FELMI, TU Graz, was the fifth in a series of workshops held roughly every four
years and first initiated by Gatan with its 1990 Lake Tahoe EELS workshop. With
140 participants from around the world, the record attendance at the EDGE
meeting reflects the ever-expanding importance and applicability of the EELS
technique to a variety of materials problems at the nanometer and subnanometer
scale.
