What’s New at GatanFirst let me thank all of you, our customers, for your continued faith and trust in Gatan, our products, and our highly trained personnel. Our people are extremely important to your entire purchasing experience, and we constantly strive to have them maintain strong contact and communication with you and the marketplace. That’s the only way we insure you that “We get it!” On the people front, many exciting changes happened to us in 2006. Sander Gubbens rejoined Gatan after a stint in the semiconductor industry and an MBA program. Sander assumed the role of V. P., Product Development and Engineering. Sander was instrumental in the design of the Gatan Imaging Filter (GIF). At the same time, John Hunt assumed a new role as V.P., Strategic Product R&D and is exploring new avenues for Gatan product development initiatives. Joe MacLeish took on the responsibilities of V.P., Operations and Customer Support with the goal of continuing to build Gatan’s service group into a world-class organization. Jacob Wilbrink assumed the role of V.P., Software and is rapidly building a premiere team of engineers and programmers to enhance our core software offering, DigitalMicrograph™, and to develop applications to support 3-dimensional microscopy. Innovative products were introduced in 2006 including revolutionary instruments, like 3View™ and XuM™. These products extend Gatan’s reach into 3-dimensional microscopy for both biological and material science applications. Many more exciting products are planned for 2007. We are confident that you will be pleased with the utility and functionality offered by these new products. Finally, since we have outgrown the current corporate R&D headquarters in Pleasanton, CA, USA, we will be moving to an expansive, state-of-the-art facility in the fall of 2007 (in the same area). Thanks to you, our continued success and growth have allowed us to not only relocate to a bigger and better home but to continue our aggressive product development operations. We’ll keep you posted on the progress of our relocation and hope that you will visit us in 2007. As always, if you have comments or questions you want to discuss with me, please feel free to send me an e-mail (tconnelly @gatan.com) or call me directly at: 1.925.224.7387. Thanks again for your continued support. Best wishes to all of you for a happy and successful 2007. Thomas G. Connelly, Ph.D. |
