The Ninth Frontiers of Electron Microscopy in Materials
Science 2003
|
|
Gatan
was proud to sponsor and attend FEMMS 2003 in Berkeley,
California, a forum in which leaders in the field of Materials
Science Electron Microscopy gave talks, presented posters
and shared their expertise with other members at the forefront
of microscopy from around the world. Gatan was pleased to
be a part of the poster session, displaying the poster entitled

Rothamsted
Research Opens new Facility
|
Rothamsted
Research has officially opened its impressive new research
facility, which is designed to provide world-class science
for sustainable agriculture and the environment. Naturally
it makes heavy use of Gatan equipment – especially
in the field of cryo microscopy. Opened by Professor Julia
Goodfellow, Chief Executive of the BBSRC, the new complex

Harvard
first for ALTO + Dual Beam
|
We are pleased to announce the first customer installation
of ALTO 2500 onto a FEI DB235 dual beam, FIB + SEM. Researchers
at the Center for Imaging and Mesoscale structures at
Harvard will be able to precisely 'slice' and then examine
the internal microstructure of biological and beam sensitive
specimens using this exciting combination of technology.

Profiles in Excellence: CIMBio at Scripps Research
Institute
|
Professors Bridget Carragher and Clint Potter lead the
Automated Molecular Imaging Group, housed in The Center
for Integrative Molecular Biosciences (CIMBio) at The
Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) in San Diego, California.
What began as a realized need for automating structural
information in our post-genomics
world has placed Carragher and Potter on the innovation
map in the field of electron microscopy.

ULSI Semiconductor
Technology Atlas
Ultra Large Scale Integration (ULSI) refers
to semiconductor chips with more than 10 million
devices per chip. Written by three renowned
pioneers in their field (Chih Hang Tung, George
T.T. Sheng, and
Dr. C.Y. Lu), ULSI Semiconductor Technology
Atlas uses examples and TEM micrographs to
explain and illustrate ULSI process technologies
and their associated problems. More than 1,100
TEM images illustrate the science of ULSI.
