The joint FELMI/GATAN GIF School is a concentrated, 4 days hands-on laboratory workshop that will take you step-by-step through the use of an integrated energy-filtering / EELS system (CM20/GIF, TF20/HR-GIF and TITAN/GIF Quantum).

This course will familiarize you with the latest EELS & EFTEM equipment and will teach you the fundamental principles and methods critical to obtaining meaningful EELS spectra and energy-filtered images or elemental maps. Its main emphasis is on practical techniques, optimum deployment of hardware and software systems, and advanced EELS and EFTEM applications. The techniques are applicable to fields ranging from biological to materials research. Prior experience with transmission electron microscopy in both the conventional and the scanning (STEM) mode as well as basic familiarity with EELS and EFTEM is beneficial. You'll benefit from tightly coupled lectures and discussions with some of the top experts in the field and you'll get hands-on experience with various techniques. By the end of the course, participants can expect to know how to optimize the performance of their GIF as well as their EELS and EFTEM experimental setups in order to capture and extract the maximum amount of information from their TEM samples.

The event is hosted by the FELMI TU-Graz who have more than 20 years of EELS and EFTEM experience.
